There is regular 2 stroke oil

There is regular 2 stroke oil and then there is synthetic oil but what is this "synthetic blend"? Is it just a combination of the two and if so can one tell how much syn.oil is in it? Is it any good?

I don't know how much is i

I don't know how much is in it but I do use it in my 85 h/p and it doesn't smoke as bad and I also use the blend in my lower unit and when I change it in the fall it isn't as stinky.

"Doug, I have been running bot

"Doug, I have been running both (regular) and synthethic blend this year. Picked up the latter unintensionally, it just happened to be on sale, grabbed a couple of bottles and noticed later.

It doesn't specify what the "blend" is, but does advertise less smoke/smell. Honestly, I didn't notice any difference - I never got alot of smoke to start with.

Regardless, synthetic oil is much more (slippery) than regular oil, so it sure can't hurt. The blend is less expensive than full synthetic and probably a decent alternative to try. Maybe you would see a difference.

AMSOIL has a fully synthetic that they claim you can run at 100:1 in your mix. Personally I wouldn't unless they are willing to pick up the tab if you weld a piston - but that's the claim.."

"The reason for running 50:1 i

"The reason for running 50:1 is mainly not lubrication when running, but presservation when NOT running.
If You run Your engine daily, trolling or whatever 100:1 would not harm, perhaps even be better. The 'trouble' may start when leaving the engine for a week or more NOT running, it simply dries out and starts corroding internally."

"Thanks for your thoughts ever

"Thanks for your thoughts everyone. I noticed that the price difference between regular oil and synthetic blend is not that much, but being skeptical I thought that perhaps they don't put very much synthetic oil in it, either.

I guess at the end of the day it doesn't really matter as long as it works and comes close to meeting some of their claims."
