SX Drive Lubrication

"This is the first year I did

"This is the first year I did not have drives removed by a mechanic. I changed the drive fluid with synthetic from Volvo. Can I lubricate the Gimbal bearing without removing the drive? On the side were the drive mounts to the boat I see a grease fitting. What is that fitting for? It looks like two hoses come off the fitting. I have a 2000 with 4.3L engines and SX drives.

You can lube the gimbal bearing using those zerks, be careful because too much grease could cause the tube to come off the zerk. You might consider other work, most of which is recommended by Volvo. I remove my drive(s) every year, change the oil, change the o-rings on the plugs, remove props clean and regrease splines, lube the u-joints, clean and regrease the input shaft and check the engine alignment.You should also check your bellows. This last year I found the engine alignment had gone out and took quite a bit of adjustment. If I had not caught this I would have blown my coupler or worse.
