"I have a 1994 Johnson 48spl on a '24 Lowe party barge.I also have a 1983 70hp Evinrude on a '15 Alumaweld boat.I would like to swap these motors,what all am I going to need to do this correctly? I also would like to find out what size props would be best to run on these boats/motore?"

"Shane, As long as they are both the same shaft length the motors will interchange. The mounting holes, the wiring and the control cables will all connect. You will need to readjust the control cables when you finish, but it's a pretty simple swap. I would start with a 15" pitch prop on the 70. If you are able to borrow a few to try you can test run with a few different ones, you may end up with a 13". If either motor has PT/T you will need to put the wiring harness for that system on the boat that motor goes on. This is a separate harness than the control wiring.
