Swap pre-alpha drives - short shift throw problem?

Mats

Hi, thinking of exchanging my old and worn MC165 drives from 1968 with MC165 drives from 1976. Possibly the engines too (inline 6, 250 CID, 165 hp, swap from -69 to -76 versions).

Any drawbacks/problems I should be aware of?

Saw something about short shift throw, but is this a problem when swapping complete drives?

"1973 and earlier drives have a short shift throw and are not compatible with the 1974 and newer drives. So when replacing drives or swapping out gear cases. Keep this in mind."

Thanks.

Too tough a question?

Naw,..... Ancient antiques nobody deals with anymore,....

I believe you'd need to swap 'bout Everything, from the pulleys to the prop,....

I donno what the differences are 'tween the MC-1/ Alpha shiftin', 'n those before '73,....

Never ran into the situation before,....
