Hi all, I have a strange issue with my boat/motor that I wanted some troubleshooting steps to look at. I have 2 new 12v marine batteries but this also happened on the previous battery that came with the boat. Basically, the motor starts right up and everything works fine. If I am out on the water and I turn it off to anchor/fish etc., it may or may not start back up. When it doesn't work, I turn over the key and I hear the warning alarm and then a click noise and then nothing. The battery would appear to be completely dead, but I know that the battery is still fully charged. I swap the battery leads over to the other fully charged battery and it starts right up. If I test the battery that would not start, it still has a full charge. Eventually I can use the other battery and the boat will start up.
I don’t think these batteries have any type of memory in them. Does this sound like an issue in the motor itself or maybe in the wiring where you turn the key?
Thanks for any assistance!
