Ran the boat on a recent trip - motor ran great. Got home and 60 seconds into flushing the motor - it cuts out and wont restart.
I try a few more times to restart and nada. Wont attempt to turn over - just turn key and nothing.

Brand new batteries & clean connections, kill switch checked, 100 hr maint completed about 2 months ago - plugs, filters, therms, IAC, oil, lower unit ,impeller,

I have noticed my neutral safety switch slipping (in throttle). Meaning - sometimes i have to push the throttle slightly forward and she starts up great?
This trick didnt work the other day when it abruptly died.

Also once i turn the key to on (just before engaging the motor) the tach goes to "3,000 rpms" and then to zero. IF i remember correctly it should always read engine hours (fyi i only have 832 hours on it)

any input appreciated
best
Matt

The 3000 RPMs is a coded indication of hours. If your rev light flashes once, that equals 500 hours, plus 3000 RPM equals 300 hours, i.e. 800 hours.

Thanks that is a help.

On another note any advice regarding the failure to start?

The fly wheels spins and oil is clean. Checked that today.
