I am running a 225 Suzuki 2004 4-storke and I am having heat issues. It runs great when going up and down the lake but in idle gear it heats up and the Hot light comes on…I have tried almost everything. I did have an issue where the bulb was getting soft and if we kept it pumped during Idle the hot light did not come on...when the hot light comes on the engine goes into a higher RPM and runs rough wben put back into Nutral is shuts off...I have changed the fuel filter, internal fuel filter, bulb (OMC bulb), changed the impeller and ran the engine off a 6 gal tank of gas with all the same results. I did run it for awhile with the engine cover off and it did fine. I am at a loss of what the problem could be...can the over heat sensors go bad? What is the oppertaing temp suppose to be on a opperation 4 stroke 225 motor? I took the cover off and could put my hand on the side of the motor it was warm but not burning hot. I have heard folks in other forms talking about a high perssure fuel filter does a 4 stroke have one of these? Thanks in advance for your help!"
