"Wondered if an experienced person could answer this for me. I just bought a used boat (1976 Cheetah) with a Merc 850 (85hp). So I got it running (on the trailer) and it shifts ok (prop spun both ways while in each gear) but with the engine off and the shift lever all the way into fwd I can spin the prop easily clockwise by hand...is this normal?? In reverse it's basically unmoveable either direction although I'm sure with force it would crank over the motor. The fact that I can spin it clockwise while in fwd scares me(it does click up in the lower unit housing when i spin it). Appreciate any help (please say this is normal!)
Thanks,
Mav"
