" Have a 1969 Johnson 115hp, had it in the shop 2 weeks ago. They did a compression test, I had the boat out for the second time and experienced a loss of power. Got home, #4 plug is stripped. Shop says we didn't do it, we tighten them by hand and bump it with a wrench. Question is what can be done to correct the problem short of replacing the head? "

Jay... Its not that bad. You should be able to heli coil the reasonably easy. You may have to remove the head to be safe if you have never done it before so invest in a new head gasket. You can purchase a heli coil kit fairly cheep at any automotive parts outlet. Follow the directions or have someone help you who may be experiencd in this proceedure...DJ
