Stringer Tilt Motor

Tilt motor on my 1978 Stringer 800 is burnt so I purchased a new one based on the part # in my manual. New motor does not have a flange like the old motor. Is the flange a separate piece from the motor because by the looks of the old motor that I have the head assembly is the flange. Unless it's 2 pieces. The reason I'm asking is if I take the head assembly off the new motor and install on the flange piece I have from the old motor the shaft is too short and doesn't engage the tilt worm shaft.

To All
I've never used one of these sites before and I guess I should have introdced myself first. My name is Pete and I recently picked up a 1978 AMF Slickcraft 21' Cuddy. I am completely restoring and need some help. I've been following this site for awhile and there seems to be some pretty knowledgeable folks here. The boat has a 350 GM motor and an 800 series OMC stern drive. The motor has been completely re-built and I'm now on to going through the stern drive. Having said all that any help you guy's can give me would be greatly appreciated.

The motor was changed, originally there was a 305 according to the owner and he put a 350 in it. I have the original omc repair manual and based on the stern drive model number i believe the model # is 990255

i guess I'm using the wrong parts book. The boat is a 1978 but the motor was replaced 1986. I gotta assume the motor and drive was replaced based on the tilt motor because that looks like the right one. Thanks for the help.
