Stringer 400 outdrive tilt worm gear assembly

Has anyone installed out drive tilt shaft, worm gear and hammer blow coupling from the outside? Wondering how to align the coupling to the trim motor shaft (without pulling the trim motor

)?

If you have the hammer blow coupling with the spring property installed on the worm shaft it will probably slip onto the motor shaft. Be sure the nylon washer is on the motor shaft 1st.
Then install the worm gear & rear cover.

Any tips on how to get the RETAINER AND BUSHING out, if the worm shaft is broken? 980182

With the drive down, remove the snap ring & yank the drive up.
If drive is up now, you will need to remove the 3 bolts holding the quadrant gear on, remove gear & install it further in. Reinstall bolts & yank drive up.
