strange Starting Problem

90hp 1994 elpt - new power head 1 year ago. motor starts easy with 1 choke push and a firm bulb - runs for about 3 sec. then dies. It does this about 5 times or so before it will hold idle. once it does hold idle it runs fine for the rest of the day. If I remove the gas line from the motor at the end of the day, and the motor sits for a few days it will usually start right up and hold idle without several restarts.Any ideas on what is going on would be great! Thanks

Your motor could be flooding from the gas tank being pressurized and pushing through the carbs. You could have a bad tank vent. Were the carbs rebuilt when you replaced the powerhead?

The carbs were rebuilt....the vent appears to be open. Thanks

pull plugs to see if its flooding, and if they are float,needle,seat, issue

the plugs look fine...new this year....once it holds idle it runs fine.

Are you using the choke till she warms up
