Strange part in Alpha 1 Gen 2

I decided to pull my leg today to do my annual service and when I separated the lower leg from the upper, a piece of plastic about 3" x 2" came out with the lower leg. If seemed to fall down from the interior of the upper leg when the 2 separated. It has 815932 stamped on one side wih 4 O's (one in each corner), and a big X on the other side. I never seen this piece before and have no idea where it belongs. Any help would be much appreciated.

It will be number 7 in this link, It just slides up between the grooves in the upper housing, By the water pick up tube

we leave it out i can't really understand what it does. Pondered this one for a day when we did his alpha 2

Thanks guys. I found an exploded view of the upper leg and it did show the part. I've dropped Alphas more times than I can count, and never seen one before. I guess in most cases they just stay in the upper end.. I'm guessing that their purpose is to get water to the engine fasten, but who knows?
