I have a 2007 Chaparral and it has a strange ignition issue with a Mercruiser 350 MAG MPI. These are the symptoms:
The blower starts no problem with the battery switch on 1, 2, or both. If I try to start the engine on battery 1, I do not hear the starter engine and the battery appears completely dead. I move switch to battery 2 and the engine starts fine. Turn engine off and move switch to battery 1, blower starts fine, but if I try to start engine, again, it is like completely dead. The problem is not the battery since I switched the batteries and got exactly same results (start with switch on battery 1). The engine also starts fine if switch is on BOTH batteries. Switch is probably not the issue (?). Next to the switch I see two boxes: One that say Hi-Amp Buss 40A and has 3 buttons (Auto Bilge, Stereo Memory and Merc), and then a box with "VSR Voltage Sensitive Relay Module Ignition Protected". I am thinking the problem is with one of these 2 boxes? Any suggestions on how to further diagnose? I used my voltmeter and the batteries read 12.36 and 12.37 multiple times.
