Stopped bolt on Yamaha 70

Hello,

I have a stripped 12 mm bolt on a Yamaha 70. It is the bolt under the zinc anode that holds the lower unit to the upper unit. Can anyone share a tip for removing it?

If all of the other bolts are removed, you should be able to apply force such that the lower comes down. Perhaps rotating the stripped bolt while doing that will help the lower unit to lower.

With the threads being completely destroyed at some point there will be nothing left to help hold the lower unit up.

Thanks. I actually just got a 6 point socket and it came right off. I took off the lower unit and am now struggling to remove the bolt. Seems stuck but I will take a look later in the week. Have a great day.

I saw your thread on the hull truth.

The threads were not stripped. The bolt head was rounded.
