Sooo - i replaced my sw box 4 weeks ago, and finally i was back up and running. motor performed flawlessly for 3 days out - 4th day, started making same hun-nun-nun sound when trying to get on plane..
for some very odd reason my home made dVA adapter which i resoldered today isnt giving me the readings im looking for, in fact the regular multi-meter reading is closer to spec..
this is @ cranking:
blue to gnd: 210v AC
Red to gnd: 35v AC
I noticed when I increase the rpm using the fast idle leavfer #3 cyl starts to misfire badly - this is with motor still just warming up, so not sure if there enough heat soak here, also swapped coils and same thing..
One mech dude (not sure how reliable he is) said next time it does that on the water i should remove the bias wire (black wire from trigger) from the top left sw box and retry??
Im also getting about 13.5 charging on the batt @ fast idle.. and i checked my batt before - it was at 12.6..
Now over to coils / sw box. If i connect my DVA while the motor is running it cuts out? is that because of the "bleed" resistor after the capacitor? Anyway- i am getting much less on the DVA as compared to normal readings..
so whats the chance i get 2 sw boxes failing after 2 days of working? Now i know i was overcharging at some point cos i measured 15.5v at idle- however could this damage sw box - whats the likelihood?
Im really at the end of my tether with this mariner thing - seriously, its running circles around me laughing its darn ar$e off at me. been almost 4 months of buggering about and still i have zero faith in this thing..
pls can someone help me step by step troubleshoot this thing? and are my non dva readings acceptable (since theyre withing spec)?
also - apparently im supposed to be getting almost 400v DC from the coil primary - but im only piking up like 4v.. also for the trigger side (2-4v AC)..
and do i do these tests with wires removed from sw box or what?
any help appreciated! thanks!
