"Hi,I own a 1973 Johnson 135hp and I've had problems getting any spark for some time now.I just replaced the stator and the powerpack and still nothing.I disconnected the rectifier to test and cranked it,no spark.Tested for the key switch by disconnecting the 1st wire on the pack and cranked,no spark.Thinking about testing the trigger but would like to know what it looks like and where excatly it is located,or if anyone has any better ideas i would be thankful. Thanks!"

Is the starter motor / battery

Is the starter motor / battery in good shape. These motors need to turn over at a healthy rate otherwise there is no spark. The sensor coils ( trigger ) is the round bit that sits inside the stator and rotates.Replacing parts ( guessing ) is a good way to end up with good spare parts.A bit expensive but you are learning.

"starter motor and battery see

"starter motor and battery seem to be fine, boat ran fine the day before i took it out then i had it on the lake and she woudnt fire.I popped off the flywheel to look at the stator and there was drool,so i thought that might be it and just in case i got the powerpack after testing for the keyswitch knowing that usally inicates that it was bad also. There are not any marine shops in my city that will touch this old of out board so i feel a little lost for a good diagnosis, thanks for the input though."
