Still need HELP !!!

I have a 20 hp Mercury that trys to come out of the water when in reverse, underneath the engine there is a device with two hooks that fit over a pin in order to keep the engine in place when in reverse, this piece is made of "pot" metal and the hooks are broken off, I have tried to remove the pin that holds this device in place with no sucess, it does not appear to have anything securing it in place, does anyone know what this device is called and how to remove it?

It's called a reverse lock and I need to know what year the engine is.

Here is where I usually go to look at parts diagrams of my motor (1995 25HP) you will need to look up your model but you should at least be able to see how everything goes together (therefore comes apart, which is my speciality!)

I am grateful for all the replies, optimax, the year is 1978, and dcbullington, thanks for the US Marine website, unfortunely the part I am searching for is unavailable, but thanks again to you all. I suppose I will be searching junkyards for this part.

Google up "Burnsville outboards" big, big place. "Twin Cities Outboard" is another big one, both here in Minnesota.
