"I've identified one of the cylinders in my engine as having an occasionally sticking oil ring.
I've tried the oil additive that you use while you drive and I've tried the additive that you use just before changing the oil. Both of these have provided some improvement, but I still get occasional instances of very strong oil burning.
Anybody out there have any tricks that don't involve replacing the rings."

Thanks for the information. I've tried Seafoam (it's the 'Additive that you use while you drive' that I mentioned in my first posting), and it gave me great initial results: I had a much more frequent oil burning problem before using it, however, I still have the one cylinder that's getting oil into the combustion chamber (based on an inspection of the sparkplugs). The 'marvel in the cyclinder overnight' is probably what I'm looking for, I just don't know what that 'marvel' is."
