Sterndrive problems

Good afternoon - I had my Upper unit connected to the lower unit - by a professional - I watched him do it.

The sterndrive has been lying on its side fully covered for several weeks - now the u-joint driveshaft is jammed - the shifter shoe is offset to the left and the prop shaft just spins
l don't know if it can be installed this way or does it need to be separated again and reconnected, but what would make this happen.

Appreciate any thoughts

I now have the shift shoe pointing straight ahead and the prop shaft locked ccw in fwd gear
U-joint driveshaft is still jammed
trying determine if this is the way it should be

See if the following video by Chris helps you out any,

Thanks for the info - I am able to move the shoe to fwd ccw - prop is locked -to neutral - to reverse - cw - prop is locked
Unable to rotate the u-joint drive shaft in any gear including neutral and I can hear metal clanking inside the drive - it not jammed solid but does move a tiny bit.
In the video I cannot see the u-joints move but he does say he saw the universals move
Is the drive shaft supposed to be able to move in either gear or neutral. ??
Please note the Upper unit is from a 228 sterndrive and the Lower is from a MC-1 sterndrive.
Thanks

facing the inputshaft it should turn in a clockwise direction in neutral or in gear.with the shift shoe facing straight (fwd 12:00) prop should lock CCW, with the shoe turned CCW to about 10:30 prop should lock CW reverse. Turning the input shaft CW will turn the prop.

The input shaft does not turn in a clockwise direction in neutral - fwd and rev are good . There something wrong inside the upper unit. When I left from where the mechanic connected the upper and lower units the input shaft was rotating in neutral - When I got back to my boat, the Drive was taken from my car to a storage place, place on its side and covered. This upper unit had been operating normally before with no grinding of gears. The Drive had been pressure tested and it passed
I will have to take the Drive back to the mechanic to open up the upper unit and see what is wrong.
if you have any thoughts on what the problem could be , I would appreciate hearing them.
Thank you for your time - I may get in the water by Christmas.

The Mechanic who connected my upper unit to the lower unit, informed me that the reason for the Upper drive shaft not rotating is that a new Impeller was installed. This resulted in the drive shaft not being able to rotate.
I separated the two units and found no evidence of damage - the Drive did rotate but when I connected the units back together again it was stuck again - I will see what happens when I connect the Sterndrive to the boat
I fear that there will be a problem when I try to slip the splines of drive shaft into the coupler
