Stern Drive Re-installation

Hi All, I am needing a little help here with getting my stern drive back on. I did some repairs and now trying to re-install the unit, it lacks about 3/4" of going back in all the way. My shift shaft couplers are aligned and the shift slide looks good and it appears everything is in order but it still will not go in all the way. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Dennis

you have it in forward, the throttle ?

You used a alignment bar ? It's all good ? If yes.

Then you need to master the stern drive re-install kick.

In other words kick that byatch like it was a cheating wife.

Smear a decent amount of grease on drive shaft and o-rings, get it all lined up, and give it shove.

Hey Chiefalen, Your suggestion was a good one. However, the kick did not work, but three whacks with a well placed 4 foot 4x4 did the job. Got it all bolted up now. Now I have another problem. One of my trim cylinders is out farther than the other one how can I get it to go onto the anchor pin. I got the starboard side bushings on and bolted but the port side is about 1 inch extended farther and cannot get it on. Can I just bump the power a little and make the one that is shorter extend a little bit? Thanks, Dennis

OMG.............

Grab the bottom of the drive and LIFT IT UP until the bushings line up............

If that does not work the hold the trim down button untill they both are all the way down or lined up........

If you needed a 4x4 to slam it home you have issues my friend..........good luck with that.

RARELY do you need that much effort.....
