Need help with carby flooding on a 4 cyl. 2 stroke Johnson sterndrive mo.DU-14D Trying to restore this 1967 model back to life. Any advice helpful to this AUSTRALIAN Retiree.

my advice would be to make a post on the Evinrude/Johnson forum linking it back here. Search some of the stickies from guys like Joe Reeves.
Were more 4 stroke guys in here. Your unit is basically an old E/J outboard head re-engineered.

Hi Hystat, Thank you very much for your advice i expect that this project will be a slow job for me as i don't have a great deal of technical experience
to fall back on.
By explanation for my effort, a old friend of mine died and left me his boat so i feel i should try my best to keep it going even if it's only going to finish up with my kids one day.
Thanks again Richard from Perth Western Australia

Hi twinpilot1 Thank you very much for your comments i will try to follow up a schematic re the float Regards Richard

Did you go to shop.evinrude. com like I told you to and look up your motor ?? You'll find it's a side draft carb.

Thank you Boobie i am in the process of stripping the motor from the hull and try to do a clean up of a few areas that need attention. For ma,an amateur mechanic, i will be a long task, will try and give some feedback as i progress
Regards Richard

Thanks very much i am having trouble removing the carby ,mainly due to physical problems caused by age (80) If i identify some part numbers i might be able to get them in the States, not much available in Australia.
Thank you for your kind advice the Forum members are very generous with their time and help.
Regards Richard
