Hello everyone. So recently picked up a 22ft Nordic Viking with a Volvo 350 motor and Volvo 280 outdrive. Did a test run on it and found the fuel pump was leaking.
-So I just did maintenance and replaced a few things
New fuel pump
New fuel filter
New spark plugs
New alternator
Carb rebuild
I got everything back together and fired it up. The idle was way too high and screaming so I went to turn the motor off and the key didn’t turn it off, I shut the battery switch off and it was still running before I could get a rag to the carb it turned off on its own and made a clunk sound. Now when I start to crank the motor over the steering wheel and drive are spinning in sync. This is fumbling me and makes 0 sense to me. I didn’t touch any steering or drive mechanisms. Ran perfectly smooth the other day other than the fuel pump leaking. What would cause it to run away and now spin the steering wheel on its own. It’s all cable steering. No hydraulics
