Steering Problem

I recently bought a Rinker 232

I recently bought a Rinker 232 with a Bravo 3 drive. I have noticed with this boat that it has a tendency to turn right if at any time you let go of the wheel and to get the boat to go straight the wheel is turned about a quarter of a turn when under way. Is there an adjustment for either problems or it something that I am just not used to after coming from a smaller boat with a Volvo outdrive. I noticed on one outing it seemed like it did not do this but now yesterday it was turning to the right. Any help would be appreciated.

There may be more than one thing for you to look at on this boat. Is there an adjustable trim tab under the cavitation plate that you can move one way or the other? That may fix things up. Is there a chance that there is something worn so bad in the likage at the back that when you let go of the wheel the slack in the worn part is taken up and the leg twists/moves/flops to one side? There is also a possibilty that the power steering control valve maybe out of adjustment. There is a step by step procedure to set the valve back to spec. but I only have instructions for an Alpha 1 drive. A few things to chew on for awhile.

I have a factory service manual for my boat drive train. It goes through the procedure step by step. But as I mentioned, I only have it for an Alpha 1 drive, and I'm pretty sure the procedure would be similar but different for a Bravo 3 drive. I found my books on E-bay for about $20 + around $8 shipping. They also sell manuals on this site, in the column on the right. They are Seloc books which aren't too bad. There is a possibility that you could find a PDF file for that drive and download it to your computer. Search around or put out a message to a guy called "bondo" on this site. He may have a link to the file for you.
