"I wouldn't think that it will turn in the up position. The gears that turn the lower unit don't mesh unless the outdrive is down. Stringers don't use a gimble set up like the cobra's or merc's/ volvo's. The upper gearbox stays centered and just the lower gearbox swivels. The steering gears are straight cut, so if you did turn it with it up it would probably trash them pretty quick."
