Stator Meltdown

"I have a 1990 Evinrude 200hp

"I have a 1990 Evinrude 200hp E200CXESM. It appears the stator has melted. There is a black shiney substance that has melted away from it on the the block ( but it's not sticky ). Do I need to be concerned about rectifier, timer base, or power pack damage? Or can I just replace the stator? Thanks"

"Motor purred like a kitten till it died on the water. I only have one battery, Just picked up the boat so not sure what the previous owner had. Also can you tell me if that motor is a low compression ot not? 80 psi on five one at 77. Thanks for the help."

if your finances,will allow u to rebuild now...do it...however,......do it...PROPERLY...do not do a short--overhaul..they will always,come back to bite u in the ass.....in the very near future.....always...do it right,do it once,and u will be good to go,for another 10 yrs."
