Stator getting damaged on 1980 35hp evinrude

I have a Johnson Model 50ES 75B. S/N: C34417

I had an engine problem. I discovered that the power pack had a problem. I changed the power pack and the engine is now running okay.

Now it shifts hard into forward and reverse. I removed the lower unit, and found that the input shaft bearing was seized due to water in the lower unit. I then removed the prop and the front gear from the output shaft, but I can't get the rear gear and the prop shaft out from the case.

Do I need a special tool? Can anyone help with a solution to get the rear gear and prop shaft out. Is there a special technique or procedure I must follow to get it out?
