Stator burnt 1985 85 hp recommendations

Hi - thanks for all your help

Hi - thanks for all your help with getting the flywheel off. Two harmonic balance pullers and an impact wrench later its off!

Stator shows signs of burning and shows zero resistance across the green/yellow leads - so looks like the stator is toast.

I have read that these things eat stators - any recommendations as to brand that might hold up better.

"Norm, actually never had a whole lot of trouble with Force stators or triggers. The CDI boxes tend to go. Mostly though it is the quality of the Mechanical parts that turn the motors into junk. Most are scrapped for chewing up piston rings.

Anyhow, if Andrew who runs this site can't help you out with a new stator, you can try standardmagneto.com

or go to ebay - there is alot of "parted out" Force's on there. I recently picked up a complete ignition system from a 150 (which will fit most any model, save the trigger) for under 100 bucks. That's a stator, 3 cdi boxes and 4 coils - all in good shape....."
