I’ve run my 1995 9.9hp Mercury outboard twice on the water so far. First day I took it for a test run it ran perfectly.
Second day it started easily, but died after several seconds. Same happened with each repeated attempt. If I opened up the throttle it died immediately. Gas was new, primer bulb stayed firm. Playing around with the choke didn’t help. Valve on the fuel tank cap was open. I just had a mechanic go over it and had it running perfectly recently.
Any suggestions? I’d like to avoid his $100/hr charge again anytime soon. Thank you in advance. George
