"would a clogged fuel filter prevent johnson 90 HP from starting, also were does this 2 stroke motor get it's spark from, and were is the fuel pump located ? As you can tell I am a real novice when it comes to boat motors, But I am tired of SITTING ON THE DOCK OF THE BAY. THANKS Richard"

"If a fuel filter were clogged solid, that would prevent fuel from gaining access to anything beyond the filter..... but that's very unlikely.

Keeping it simple, the stator under the flywheel is a two fold component. One portion (series of small coils) of it is for charging the battery, two large coils supply voltage to the powerpack to energize the ignition.

Top of this page, 2nd icon, manuals. You should obtain a service manual so as to understand that engine somewhat. We can help to an extent but to try to explain everything can become very involved.
