Working on a 1956 Johnson 10hp. Yes, it's old, but very low hou.rs, excellent condition and runs if and when it wants to start. Compression is
good and it's getting spark. The problem seems to be fuel delivery. The carb has been completely rebuilt including the float, valve and needle. The float valve passes all the test for proper closure. However, when I pull on the starter rope, gas runs out the opening of the carb and the motor acts flooded. I have removed, disassembled, inspected, tested, reassembled and reinstalled the carb per the manufacturers manual 4 times now but to no avail. Should mention that the carb was doing the same thing before the rebuild. I know it appears that the float valve is not working properly once the carb is assembled and installed, but darned if I can figure out why. Anyone every encountered is problem?
