Starting problem clicking noise battery terminals hot

"I have a 90 hp outboard mercu

"I have a 90 hp outboard mercury 1988. Won't turn over, hear clicking noise and after two minutes battery terminals very hot. Any ideas will be appreciated."

"Just some ideas....Could be a bad battery, bad connection at the battery or engine, bad starting solenoid, bad starter motor or engine is seized. Check, clean all connections, charge battery, try jumpering across the 2 big terminals on the solenoid, try to wrap a rope around the flywheel and pull it to see if engine seized or put a big wrench on it(Note: turn key OFF) remove spark plugs to make it easier to pull."

"Thanks Bob. I got new battery, changed the battery wires. Engine not seized. Same problem. Brought it to my mechanic. Will advise."
