Starting issues when motor is warmed up.

The first initial start motor turns over no problems. I have been having issues when I am fishing and drifting and then trying to start motor to move to another spot it has a hard time starting. Sometimes I have to through it in neutral and Rev it alittle to get it running again. Could if be my fuel pump? Thanks for any tips

I would double check to make sure you are running the right heat-rating for your spark plug in reference to that engine. If you are, you could maybe try a colder plug. But guessing since you can cold start just fine, the plug may be too hot. I've seen these Mercs react adversely with a different plug because that's what was available at the time. Also wouldn't hurt to check fuel pressure at VST, go through filters if you haven't. Also if you had the time while it's warmed up to see what kind of compression you have. Any other symptoms while the engine is running at idle or under load?

I put new plugs in a week ago when I did my tune up and took her out for the first time. Went out for a 2.5hr cruise. Yesterday I went and took a look at the plugs. They were pretty wet looking for only using it for 2.5hrs (did about 80% cruising around 15-20knots) Wondering if the problem is the plug type and switch it up like your saying. The last 2 years its been an issue starting when warm. Always have to Rev it alittle. Initial start never any problems
