does the spring have to be gre

does the spring have to be greased prior to installing if so how much it came with aband wrapped around it wondering if i can lay spring in starter housing & then take the band off if so how do i get grease to cover the entire spring

"When the spring is laying in the housing, simply press some grease upon it. It doesn't require much."

"Joe, he is talking about the tie strap that they put on the recoil spring for packaging. You can clamp on the spring half way down with vice grips, then cut the tie strap, then simply place the recoil spring in the housing using the vice grips."
