starter problem

I have a 1979 mercury 40hp 402 when I go to start it the starter is catching the flywheel when spinning off. I was working fine all day on the river then when I went to start it up to go back to the boat landing it started that.

The shaft bushing needs a drop of 10 wt. electric motor oil. Wipe it clean and apply one drop. Let it soak into the bushing. It the starter hangs up again you'll need to rebuild it. Since it is a 1979 model you might have to replace the starter if the bushings are worn.
