Starter on my 90H johnson not kicking up

http://imgur.com/3dhHRD5 The starter on my 90H Johnson outboard randomly stopped kicking up to engage with the motor today. The solenoid fires and spins, but the pinion doesn't move up and engage properly. Multimeter shows the contacts are fine and that it has enough power to do its job, but I'm thinking maybe some internal component is broken. Any way to tell exactly what is wrong from my description? I'm thinking it's just something about the pinion.

My recommendation is to take the starter apart for inspection.----------Believe it or not they are very easy to work on.-----Ask if you are unsure on how to test the armature.

have you tried a couple drops of oil?...you need a minimum of 10.5 volts between the starter post and a good block ground when engaging starter..do not over oil as you do not want oil in starter...

Thanks much. I took it apart and checked it out.. wiped it all off and tightened it back up. Gave it a little oil and guess what... Fired up like a charm!
