Starter not engaging flywheel

I have a 1968 -72 20 hp Johnson with pull start. I wanted to put an electric starter on I found a bracket and starter and installed. The problem is the starter bendix likes 3/8 - 1/2 inch engaging the flywheel. What needs to be replaced starter, bracket, or flywheel?

Part numbers of bracket and starter ?----I doubt you can correct this with another flywheel.----Sounds to me you bought the wrong parts ---online ?

Find them right here on this site.----I believe the parts you got are for the newer 32 cubic inch engines.----Yours is a 22 cubic inch.-----Some sellers are not aware of the difference.-----If in Canada ----evinrudeparts.ca ----also has the part numbers and may help.
