"My new motor 5.7L (350) has a loud screeching noise from the starter area which appears . sometime about 20-30 secs after starting. It lasts for 3-5 secs. and disppears and sometimes reappears. The starter and motor are new. Also, once the engine almost stopped during the noise. Once the engine tried to start with the ignition switch in the on position. Thanks!"

Thanks. I tested the starter solenoid with a light and the light came on with the noise. The engine company is sending me a new starter. My worry. I could not locate a slave solenoid to test. Where is it? I will check the ignition switch. Had engine timed. Was set at 0 degrees. Now it is set at 8.

Excellent question! Bought almost entire 5.7L this May. I had a 93-94 Volvo Penta 5.0L(500A) 190hp. Blocked cracked past winter. Bought engine new. chose to upgrade 5.7L Gold package from Michiganmotorz. Poor Location-bad installer? Didn't time engine.Who
knows what else? Old Engine was great for 12 yrs but not used much. 120hrs before block cracked. Duoprop-will need to probably change depending on RPMs. From 190hp to 315hp. 23'WACC
