"1998 4.3L I/O having starting

"1998 4.3L I/O having starting problems mechanically, starters don't last but one or two cycles. Replaced water shutters, exhaust manifolds, elbows , and risers along with gaskets. anyone have any ideas? Once engine fires, boat will run and performs at peak levels. Once shut down and sitting for awhile seems like hydro lock, the starter begins to grinds after this point. Any Ideas?"
 
"I know, but you may have leak

"I know, but you may have leaking new manifolds,
check the plugs to see if there wet. Pull the risers, remove the hose from the therm that goes to the bottom of the manifold, carefully using a hose, fill the water jacket up to the top but dont get any in the exaust port, look inside for water droplets forming. Were the mating surfaces of the manifold and riser checked with a fine flat file, may have a slow leak from the gasket."

Especially if they are GLM aftermarket parts.

"Thanks for input, the new maifold and risers are After Market GLM parts, I'll try too change the Gaskets tomarrow, if this doesn't work where would I go next."
