Starter "Fails" interimittantly

Hi All. Had the boat on the water today. Motor running like a dream.

I have a problem which shows up every now and again when I try to start the motor. I turn the key and there's nothing. I can hear the primer solenoid working when I push the key, but the starter does nothing. It doesn't even "click"

The battery is 100% and all connections seem to be in order. The starter fitted appears to be the Bosch as there is an external solenoid which just seems to hang next to the starter.

The motor is an 81 Johnson 90hp v4

Any ideas welcome.

Start by checking the safety " crank in nuetral only " switch in the control box.------------The proper solenoid would be bolted to the block.----Check small wire from solenoid to ground.
