starter drive problems 1991 115hp

Hi everyone , well i have a unique problem, i have a 1991 johnson 115 horsepower outboard, i need a starter drive, but been to dealer , but keeps getting wrong part, the starter number is 389954, the dealer orders me a new starter drive , but it is held together with a clip, mine has a nut to hold mine together and the one he ordered is also too small of a shaft size to fit on my starter, he suggests getting a whole new starter, but don,t really need one, the part he got for me is 18-5634, any one else have this problem?

That is strange because an 18-5634 comes up as a complete starter. The starter drive for your motor (clip type) is an 18-5679

you need BRP part # BRP-0385949, thats the drive or for your after market drive, SIE-18-5656 price is about the same.

thanks for the info guys, yea sorry i gave you the starter part number, but will try to get the drive

The BRP number is for your Evinrude dealer, you can get the sie number at most any NAPA store, This is the drive that is held on by the nut.

should be less than $28.00
