I have replaced the fuel filter and am checking carb for fuel today and cleaning air filter. Saw things about tach but not sure if thats it?

Ayuh,..... Whatcha workin' on,..??
sorry,2000 Mercruiser 5.0 220 hp Bravo 2 outdrives,raw water cooled
today i changed the plugs and wires and dist. cap, rotor( which needed anyway), changed fuel filter ,fuel looked fine, checked carb. screen filter , looked fine, checked for fuel in carb, looked fine, checked fuel vent, not clogged, I'm thinking electrical, changed battery with other motor, still had same problem. it starts up fine, then running at 2000 in idle in neutral battery volt gauge drops at same time tach and motor spit and sputter then stalls out, sounds like when you fog a motor out.

Fuel pump is giving you what psi, you need between 4-7 no less no more. Plugs look like what, when you pull them all out keep track of what plug goes in what hole.

When the plugs are all out on a warm motor and the throttle fully down check compression. Below are 2 links.

Pulling the tach wire and running it might fix the problem so maybe trying that first might be what you will want to do.

the first plug towards belts on left was gummy thick black. will try removing tach wire from ignition coil and running tomorrow. start boat and remove wire or will it start with wire already removed? plug wasn't wet or smell of gas
