Stalling after restart in gear

"Here is the problem i'm having and hopefully someone has an answer for me. The motor is a 93 evinrude 225. When I launch the boat it will idle and go into gear no problem (runs perfect). However, when I shut it off, let it sit, even for as little as a few minutes and re-start, it will idle, but when I shift into gear the motor will starve for fuel and stall out. The motor re-fires fine but will keep starving out a few times unit it seems to get enough fuel to run fine. The choke has helped prevent the motor from stalling a few times. The motor has been just rebuilt and the problem was there befor the rebuild. When it was re-built the carbs were all rebuilt, new vro pump, and the check valve on the gas tank is working fine and clean. Anyone know what I should be looking at next?"

Is the problem the same with the shift interruption switch disconnected?
Does changing engine trim make any difference?

"Should be a switch on the shift lever STB side on engine where You connect the shift cable. It cuts ignition on one bank when shifting from in-gear to neutral. Temporary disconnect it for testing only, but note that the engine may be hard to get out of gear!"

"shift sw,wont affect the fuel system.since the chk helps,...u can disallow..the shift switch...u have a lean running condition............if this prob was there,before.....something,during the overhaul....HAS NOT CHG'D.....repl recirc valves....if u sit for a while,eng cools off...and u have this prob....try running a higher grd of gas,stay AWAY fr e-10 or e85...who rebuil this eng,..pro-shop,.....under a shade tree???"

"repl the primer bulb,w/a brp factory bulb....none other.............if ur fuel line,is old,repl it,as the alcohol,can mess up the INSD of fuel lines...................i dont think this is ur immediate prob tho,just good info...let that eng warm up a CPL OF MIN BEFORE U NAIL IT....."

"The reason I mentioned 'shift switch' is I'm not 100% sure that the fuel system might be the problem. After overhaul of complete engine including carbs, problem should have been solved, unless something was missed. So eliminate whatever might cause the engine to stall at low rpm when shifting."

"I have just replaced the primer bulb (brp) and the check valve at the tank is clean and working properly. I haven't checked the vent line from the tank but fuel shoots out when the tank gets full during refuel. Richining the idle did not help. I have only been running 91 octane with no ethanol. jwbmarine, what do the recirc valves do? Are you talking about thermostats?"
