stainless prop for Volvo 280?

I currently have a Volvo 280 behind a near future 383 SBC. I have heard of people running Stainless Merc props with pressed in Volvo hubs. I would like some other options besides the Volvo elephant ear, which I'm currently running a 16/21. And I have searched online everywhere and have not come up with much info.

Any advice or input is appreciated.

Jim, I can't really advise you on the propeller..... you're sort of on your own here......., but I'd sure recommend that you read this thread before building your 383.

You may also want to look for an "A" transmission for the added torque and horse power.
If not, at minimum I'd pull your main drive gear bearing box, and examine the two tapered roller bearings.

Your 280 will handle the power, but I'd sure look at these two bearings.

Also, I'd replace the transmission vertical shaft wear washer (aka splilt ring keeper), especially if you've been using a LH prop, or plan to use a LH propeller or the Duo Prop lower drive unit.
