"It amazes me now that I have been through the engines and they run and look so pretty, I was finally able to get into regular boat things like sanding wood, oiling teak, cleaning the head etc. etc.
Apparantly the large plug connector coming from the dash to the engine had developed some corrosion and after starting the port engine to check a new oil filter the power to the starter was dead. After easily locating the problem my brother was looking into the darkness of the port v-drive and noticed the starter arcing at the stud that holds it all together to the engine while cranking. My guess is that it was slightly loose and a bit of lube and a turn of a wrench eliminated this potential bomb. The irony is that after taking all the care possible to get it all right, something as obscure as this, could have been a potent catylyst to an explosion.
I thought it important enough to mention this to the guys that are in the hole twisting a few wrenchs. Keep one eye open"
