Spark prob??

When I start my engine cold it runs great but when it gets hot it looses all spark. I can let it sit over night and it does the same thing? 1995 Mercury 225......I have ohmed the electronics out and they seem to check out fine. I also switched out the ecm with my other engine and made no difference.....ANY IDEAS???? Thanks , Jeff

sounds like the pick up gets hot then fails, or the coil pack. I've never had it happen on a boat motor, but my lawn mower did the same thing, and it was the coil pack.

While hot we unpluged one coil at a time with no luck of fire returning. I have also swaped triggers and no luck. Stator maybe? Is there anyone who can actually test a stator for breaking down other than an ohm test?

You can do DVA tests with the motor running, so maybe won't help in this instance.

Use the hairdryer to heat up the flywheel (which will heat the stator) and do the ohm tests.

If you notice a significant drop in continuity (increased resistance) as it warms up then you know it's a cracked stator bobbin....
