"I have come across several recomendations as to what spark plugs to use in my 120 TLE. First of all, my 120 is an 93 model with a 86 powerhead and electronics and is used on a bass boat. I read somewhere that I should use either a Champion QL 78V or a L78V for high speed operation. Do I need the resistor plug (QL). Your thoughts on this please."

"If you have electronics of any kind on board - fishfinder, gps, vhf etc, spend the extra couple bucks a plug and go with the resistors.

Or save a couple bucks and put up with buzzing and distortion."

"Thanks
The idea of using these other plugs came from a manual which stated for the E120

"OMC recommends the use of Champion QL77JC4 or L77JC4 plugs gapped at .040 for sustained low speed operation. For sustained high speed OMC recommends Champion QL78V or L78V plugs"

As I am mostly high speed running rather than trolling, I assumed that this may have been the way to go.

I am currently running the QL77JC4 plugs, and they work fine, so perhaps I shall stick with them."

Stick with the Ql77jc4 and gap

Stick with the Ql77jc4 and gapped at 030thou we know the book states 040 but at every OMC service school and Master Tech school i have attended they have said to gap em at 030 thou and they will run great and last longer
