Spark plugs for 6.0 Captains Choice?

I have a 2007 6.0 Crusader Captains Choice engine. Manual calls for R030011, ACDelco 41-110, .060 gap. I have ACDelco 41-985, .044 Gap plugs installed from Factory. Called Crusader and they said in 2007 the engine came with 41-985, .044 and then Crusader upgraded and installed 41-110, .060. Why did they change them? My question is how will the difference in the plug gap effect the engine performance, gas consumption etc. Will this effect the engine computer? Crusader said that you will not notice the difference!! I think it will make a big difference! .044 to .060 is big. Should I change plugs over from .044 to .060 gapped plugs?? I know on cars the gap has a big effect on the operation of the engine!
 
With a modern ignition system, I'd doubt you'd notice the difference in the plug gap. Not impact to the computer; probably less than 2% impact to expected life of coil.

Changes happen for a reason as they are NOT free. Should have asked Crusader while they were answering the phone. Then call them back a few days later and see if the response is consistent. Probably a flowdown from GM as that happens with some frequency, especially on the newer designs.
 
Thank You! I will try to call them tomorrow. Should I change the plugs to the .060 gapped plugs? Will it make a difference? I have the new .060 plugs.
 
I recently changed the factory plugs in my 2008 Crusader Classic motor and the plug gaps varied from .020 all the way up to the correct .060 gap! I think only 3 out of the 8 were gapped correctly. Now it has all new plugs gapped at the recommended .060 with antisieze on the threads, thanks Fastjeff for that tip.

Hi, What change did the new gaps have on your engine performance. I have a 6.0 Crusader. The gaps on the plugs in the engine are .040. Crusader recommends .060. My question is What can I expect with the new gap of .060. My mechanic said if it is running ok don't change/regap them. Will it improve engine performance of fuel consumption? I called Crusader, They recommend .060 but said that you probably wont be able to know the difference between the two gaps. I find that hard to believe! Please, any comments!!!!
 
Why would you not believe Crusader? Like Mark stated, they change things for a reason. Most likely they are chasing the ever changing fuel and if I were a betting man, I'd bet it has something to do with ethanol.
 
The larger the gap, the higher the voltage required for the "spark" to occur. As long as the ignition system will support it, it gives just a bit more area to ignite the a/f mixture.
