when i took the cowling off the other morning (5:00 a.m.)it looked like i had rigged up some christmas lights under there.

upon further inspection (grabbing onto one
crazy.gif
) i decided they were in need of repair.....it was pretty funny after i got the feeling back in my hand.

my coils check out good.......wires have really high resistance.

doesnt seem to have any running issues ......strange huh?!

the # seems to have changed quite a few times in the past....

how are the after market coils?

which are the preferred?

i know i can just replace the wires with a little effort but the coils look original,so......"

yeah mine look original.......may keep them anyway- as testers.....after i get some new wires that is.

i was leaning toward the cdi coils listed on this site........now im just waiting for the wife to come home with the credit card.

ive been looking at the cdi coil on here part # 183-2366.........i think this one has the upgrade you speak of.

why do these motors use this "wire" type plug wire instead of an automotive wire?...........while i have to admit it gave me a good jolt-- it doesnt compare to a msd jolt on a hotrod.........yeeeeeouch!

It is my understanding that automobiles of the 50's and earlier did use metallic wires. These wires caused radio interference and were replaced with graphite core suppresion(Radio static suppression) wires sometime in the late fifties or early sixties.
