Spark Plug Wires

I searched the forum for info regarding the best spark plug wires to use because i want to replace the wires on my 89' 7.4

I read some are using automotive and not paying the higher price for marine grade wires. Can anyone advise as to which
wires to use and where to get them?

Ayuh,.... In my experience, automotive wires end up too short, 'n with the wrong ends at the wrong ends....

The difference is the Fit, not the quality of the wire or ends themselves...

A very good point, I thought about this and when sizing, I selected the Chevy Suburban 2500 w/454. I was hoping it would fit, now I am not so sure. I may be better going with the Magstar, or the Napa Belden marine wires. If it was only one set of wires, I would not be so concerned, but two sets requires me to be more cautious.

Thanks

I'd suggest a good grade resistive wire with a silicone jacket....and silicone boots (90 degree) on both ends. Like bondo said, the fit (lengths and boot types) is the key.

You always have the option of buying a bulk spool of wire and the terminals, boots, and crimper to make your own...takes a little time but then you won't have any issues...just buy a premium crimper...

Thanks, once I made my own and the end result was less to be desired. I think I am going with Mallory, they have a marine grade for the 454. I think it is a good wire and will fit fine.

Thanks to all for the advice. I almost went with automotive and then would find they were too short.
